Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Callibrate your Wacom tutorialHad you finally made the transition from intuos 3 to intuos 4?, or Are you rich to change into an intuos 5? Had you made the transition from a first generation cintiq to the new ones?. More levels of pressure will mean more quality to the paintings, am i right?.
Did you thought that by default the pen will it be like using butter on bread?, you try it for the first time and you love all of it, you said i have sooooooo much control on my strokes im having a blast. Then only to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.

We started start doing Monthly Challenges again. They may not be as regular as wtehy used to be, but I will not let them down again like before. Promised.

For you who have no idea what I'm talking about… You create a piece of Typography to a given topic and we accept the submission, regardless of our usual quality control.

Monthly Challenge // #2 2011The topic for this Challenge will be:

GEOMETRY

What do you have to do?

Create a piece of Typography, using geometric shapes
You can create letters from geometric shapes
Use geometric shapes to put your words in a layout
Make a canvas from an unusual shapes (dA supports .png's a lot better now)
Do whatever you want, but stay in geometry

I hope this theme will inspire you and bring up some new, fresh and amazing Typographic Art.

How to take part?

2 ways to submit your deviation:

Typo Artists & Members: Go to the gallery folder "Monthly Challenge - Geometry and click on the "Submit to This Folder"-button. Now pick wether you want to upload a new submission or one that is already in your gallery.
Typo Artists: Submit your piece like a normal deviation. Where you pick the group you want to submit it to, select the right folder from the dropdown menu.

Every Deviation for a Monthly Challenge will be accepted, if submitted to the right gallery folder.
Make sure to add in the descrition or comment on the submission page, that you made it for the Monthly Challenge.
We will not allow deviations submitted to dA before today (July 21st 2011).
